Fathers Are Wonderful by Helen Steiner Rice

Fathers Are Wonderful

by Helen Steiner Rice

Fathers are wonderful people
Too little understood,
And we do not sing their praises
As often as we should...

For, somehow, Father seems to be
The man who pays the bills,
While Mother binds up little hurts
And nurses all our ills...

And Father struggles daily
To live up to "his image"
As protector and provider
And "hero of the scrimmage"...

And perhaps that is the reason
We sometimes get the notion,
That Fathers are not subject
To the thing we call emotion,

But if you look inside Dad's heart,
Where no one else can see
You'll find he's sentimental
And as "soft" as he can be...

But he's so busy every day
In the grueling race of life,
He leaves the sentimental stuff
To his partner and his wife...

But Fathers are just wonderful
In a million different ways,
And they merit loving compliments
And accolades of praise,

For the only reason Dad aspires
To fortune and success
Is to make the family proud of him
And to bring them happiness...

And like Our Heavenly Father,
He's a guardian and a guide,
Someone that we can count on
To be always on our side.

In My Eyes by James A. Kisner

In My Eyes

by James A. Kisner

He's rough and lacks in etiquette,
Society would say.
He has no classy attributes,
To help him on his way.

He's not a fancy dresser,
And he's not so trimmed and neat.
With simple clothes and simple shoes,
He wears upon his feet.

He doesn't belong to a club,
Or drive a shiny car.
And when he takes vacations,
He does not go very far.

He doesn't dine on fine cuisine,
To him fast food's a treat.
And he may use a plastic fork,
When it is time to eat.

He has a modest little house,
But has all that he needs.
He keeps his lawn cut nice and short,
He even trims his weeds.

He works long hours at his job,
To make an average pay.
And even if he's sick or tired,
He goes to work each day.

His job is just a factory job,
His pay just makes ends meet.
But a few good friends and family,
Make his life complete.

He's not well versed in poetry,
Theater or the arts.
And wisdom is not something,
That he constantly imparts.

He loves the simple things in life,
For riches doesn't thirst.
He knows what is important,
And his family is put first.

The wealth that God has given him,
To treasure in his life,
A loving son and daughter,
And a very special wife.

He never has much money,
And his life is not a show,
But he is still the richest man,
That I will ever know.

To others he's a simple man,
And fame he's never had,
But he's the greatest man I know,
He also is my dad.

A Mother Like You by Hannah

A Mother Like You

by Hannah

from the day I was born
You've always gave me courage
to do as I perform

You call to say hello
you send me notes to say you care
And when we are together
a special momentis shared

Forthe many things you've done
for all the times ou were there
Helps me to know deep down
how much you really care

Even though I might not say it,
I really appreciate all you do
So powerfully blessed is how I feel
for having a mother like you.

For all the times you've been there

A Mother

A Mother

by Anonymous

A Mother is one who
understands the things
you say and do

Who always overlooks
your faults and sees the
best in you

A Mother is one whose
special love inspires you
day by day.

Who fills your heart with
gladness in her warm
and thoughtful way.

A Mother is all these things
and more - the greatest
treasure known.

And the dearest Mother in
all of the world is the one I
call my own.

God's Love by Elizabeth Cushing Taylor

We do not see the wind,
We only hear it sigh;
It makes the grasses bend
whenever it goes by.

We do not see God's love,
But in our hearts we know
He watches over us
Wherever we may go.

We do not have to see
To know the wind is here;
We do not have to see
To know God's love is near.

Just A Little Prayer

God is ever there for those
Who really, really care,
He helps dispel your cares and woes
With just a little prayer.

Invite the Lord into your heart,
He has much love to spare,
A love He gladly would impart
With just a little prayer.

Let Him know when things go wrong,
No matter when or where.
He can fill your heart
With just a little prayer.

It matters not your race or creed,
God does not compare.
He can fill your wants and needs
With just a little prayer.

No power on earth can give to man
God's immortal blessings rare.
He is the only One who can
With just a little prayer to Allah

The Moon by Henri David

Time wears her not; she doth his chariot guide;
Mortality below her orb is placed.
--Raleigh

The full-orbed moon with unchanged ray
Mounts up the eastern sky,
Not doomed to these short nights for aye,
But shining steadily.

She does not wane, but my fortune,
Which her rays do not bless,
My wayward path declineth soon,
But she shines not the less.

And if she faintly glimmers here,
And paled is her light,
Yet alway in her proper sphere
She's mistress of the night. http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/the-moon/
